Madame Antoine kdrama review

Hi there!

I know there are many newer kdramas to be watched for the year of 2016 but for me, the first kdrama i watched of 2016 was Madame Antoine. So time for a review!

But before i should warn you that there are spoilers below so if you dont wanna know what happens then dont read the italic text!
Here we go!

First of all this drama stars Han Ye Seul wich is one of my fave k-actresses so if you like her too then its already a plus and u need to watch this drama too! She plays Go Hye Rim, a fortune teller that claims to be connected to the spirit of Marie Antoinette. Of course that part is a lie but she has a special talent in observing people and being able to tell what they are going through in their life and what they need.
The story begins when she meets Choi Soo Hyun, a psychotherapist played by Sung Joon, who opens up a treatment center that happens to be named the same as Go Hye Rim's fortune telling cafe: "Madame Antoine". This is where the action begins as a romantic conflict starts between the two.
Little does Go Hye Rim know that Soo Hyun is conducting a psychological experiment to prove that true love doesn't exist, and being anoyed by Go Hye Rim, he decides to make her the subject of his experiment and to prove once and for all that true love doesn't exist for women
In this experiment he needs three men of different backgrounds to try and seduce one woman to prove that all women fall for the man with succes and money.
One of those men will be his assistant, Won Ji Hoo played by Lee Joo Hyung who portarys a young geniuss in mathematics who is cute but doesnt know much about real life. The other man will be Choi Seung Chan, Soo Hyun's little brother, as the attractive young man. Things become interesting when Soo Hyun decides to play the part of the third man, the slightly older but succesful and rich man.
In his atempt to conquer Go Hye Rim and to prove love doesnt exist he truly falls in love with her and finds himself in a psychological conflict with himself, fighting his feelings for her in order to prove his experiment to be right. In the end true love wins and Go Hye Rim helps Soo Hyun solve his psycholocial problems regarding his mother and the conviction that all women are not capable of true love.

Now my thoughts on the overall drama.
First of all i loved Han Ye Seul in this drama. I think that Go Hey Rim's character suits her alot. I loved the way she portrayed Go Hey Rim as a strong and intellingent woman but at the same time as fragile and carrying the burden of being deeply hurt by love in the past.
As for Sung Joon, i liked him too altough not from the begining. Somehow i am not used with this image of a slightly narcisistic and bad guy character he had to portray. He has the kind of image of "the good guy", at least in my head, so he wasnt really convincing in this role. At least at the begining but he did an ok job. Probably need to see him play a negative character in the future to wash away the good guy image he has in my had haha!
As for the chemistry between the two, i cant say i was blown away. There were some moments when they portaryed a nice romantic tension but overall i couldnt sense too much chemistry.

Conclusion?
Well i liked this drama for Han Ye Seul mostly and for the psychological situations portayed, allthough some were kind of exagerated.
Although i like Sung Joon, i would have preffered someone else in this role, someone who gives off more of a cold cool guy kind of vibe. He has more of a goody goody kind of vibe and was not very convincing in this role.
Oh and also i liked Jang Min Hee character, Soo Hyun's mentor and the cute romantic story between her and Soo Hyun's brother. That was very cute.

Rating?
I give this one a 4 out of 5! Worth watching if you like psychology but dont take it too seriously!

Aight, hope this was helpful for you and do let me know your oppinions!
 Anyuong!
